During my experience of working in the intelligence team of a company, I’ve come to realize the lack of information out there about the YouTube resources available for data analysts on Business Intelligence.

Therefore, I’ve decided to compile a concise and helpful list of business intelligence YouTube channels for anyone who is looking for some information and learning resources within the BI field. Power BI is a common business intelligence tool used for it’s simplicity and ease of use. Developed by Microsoft, you wouldn’t have to worry about the stability and reliability of the software. For new learners getting used to BI, this YouTube channel might just be the perfect one for you!

Being another major contender for the most commonly used business intelligence tools, it would only make sense to include Qlik into the top few YouTube channels. Qlik is a BI software company known for developing the QlikView and QlikSense BI products. For any learner out there who is curious about Qlik products, this a is a channel you have to follow! This channel features product demonstrations, product releases and instructional tutorials.

I would recommend this channel to those who are interested in picking up Qlik Sense or Qlik View as an additional BI skill. If your company requires you to use Qlik products then this channel would be the perfect learning resource for you! However, if you are not looking at using Qlik products then this channel wouldn’t serve as much purpose to you, since their videos can be considered as pretty product-specific.

Up next, we have another major player in the business intelligence report tool box. The TIBCO Spotfire is a BI product used in a quite a number of corporations for commercial use. Similar to the several other BI software, the TIBCO Spotfire provides data visualization and analysis capabilities. Being a corporate channel, the TIBCO Spotfire mainly only focuses on tutorials within their product lineup but do not offer any more help beyond that. But this is understandable, considering the amount of value this channel can provide for those who really need information on the TIBCO Spotfire software. One great feature on this channel is the amazingly clear tutorials that cover various topics within BI that is hard to come by. Here’s an example of one of such tutorials.

SAP Analytics is a YouTube channel operated by SAP. The main reason why I included this channel was that many companies use SAP BusinessObjects as their form of BI software. And if you’re one of those who work at one of such companies, then you’re likely to like this channel. The SAP Analytics channel provides in-depth product demonstrations and updates on the latest changes to SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Analytics Cloud.

As I’ve mentioned, if you’re a heavy user of SAP BusinessObjects or if you’re most likely handling data within BusinessObjects BI in the future, then it would be best for you to follow this channel. Staying in the know when a new BI feature comes in can sometimes really help speed up your workflow. Now we’re moving on to the more personal YouTube channels and the first person that would come to my mind when it comes to BI would be Tim from Tableau Tim. This channel focuses on all the various areas within the Tableau line of products. Tableau is a commonly used software among large companies because of their stable and easy-to-use software. Tableau Tim covers in-depth tutorials of the different charts, functions and hidden tips within Tableau.

Personally, I’d say that this channel is on it’s way to success, because of it’s simple yet informative videos that are great for those who are new to the BI field. For example, take a look at this video below for the most common jargon used in the BI industry.

Vitamin BI mainly uses Google Data Studio as its BI tool, which is a great choice for beginners as well. Being a free tool, this choice of BI software makes it a perfect tool for beginners to get their hands dirty on.

The BI Polar channel is personal YouTube channel hosted by Matthew from BI Polar (Yes, I get amused by the pun in the name every time as well). The BI Polar channel is a must-watch for those who are interested in BI concepts such as starting a BI/data culture. Although it may be a personal channel, I included it into this list because of the value of the channel that no other channel mentioned above could provide. The Quansten channel gives you a personal look into how life would be like working in the BI industry as well.

I personally found this channel a gem because of the personal aspect to BI. Other than just about learning the various tools within BI, one would also be curious to look into the life of someone ACTUALLY doing BI. That’s just my personal take but you might want to check it out to see if it’s to your taste. Being a personal channel, some videos might not be fully relevant to BI but that just makes things more genuine isn’t it?

Here are the most knowledgeable guys on YouTube when it comes to Power BI. The Guy in a Cube duo Patrick and Adam are a power-packed duo who are just a pleasure to watch. Videos are uploaded every few days and they always seem to be of high quality. The videos cover various updates to Power BI, Excel as well as instructional step-by-step tutorials.
